Potty Boot Camp

Landon turns 2 in a few days and we decided it was time to start the potty training process. He was showing some big signs that he was "ready" to be introduced to the potty (hiding while going #2, tugging on his diaper, and asking to be changed). A friend of mine gave me this method called the 3 Day Potty Training Method. I read through the e-book a few times and felt really prepared for what we were about to go through. I know it seems super early for Landon to begin potty training, but this method along with many others suggest that children are ready around the age of 22 months. So, we decided to give it a go! Landon had to drink A LOT of fluids all day long, so that there were several opportunities to practice going potty. We had 20-30 pairs of big boy underwear on hand and probably went through about 12 pairs within a 15 minute period sometimes! It was intense! Each day, he had 30-45 accidents. Some were big (pee pee on the floor) and most were what I called "dribbles" (just a little wetness on his underwear). The key to this method was to catch him in the act of going potty and rushing him to the bathroom, as well as being super positive. I must have said, "Tell Mommy when you have to go pee pee, ok?" about 100 times a day, no joke! On day one, he had one successful pee pee in the potty, day two he had 2 and on day three he had 6 pee pee's on the potty and 1 poo poo! It was a very proud moment for both of us! Landon got a treat each time and yes, you can probably guess we made many trips to the potty and he was asking for a treat without even sitting down on the potty. But, at least he was getting the idea! The entire 3 days really reminded me of when we potty trained our dogs! :) By the end of day three, it was supposed to "click". Well, it didn't haha. But, I am so thankful that we did the 'potty boot camp' because now I can recognize the signs Landon gives me right before he has to go pee pee. So, we are using pull ups for now and he wears big boy underwear a few hours each day. He will get it eventually on his own time and we are so proud of him for improving every day! It was tough for both of us...harder on me I think! :) I am done staring at his little weenie for a while haha (I had to catch him in the act remember, so it involved a lot of staring at the front of his underwear looking for a wet spot) haha. Here are some pictures from our 3 days of craziness!

Hanging out with the pups. He was not allowed to wear shorts because I had to be able to see when he was having an accident. Thankfully Elle slept a lot during the 3 days so that I could focus on Landon. Gma (now known as GG) helped out a lot with her though too! Some of his treats for going pee pee on the potty. This is a candy fish kabob! I put up signs all over the house to remind me of the things I was supposed to say to him. It was a funny sight. Landon's big boy potty! He loves the movie "Cars", so we got him this potty. When you flush it, it sounds like a car is reving up it's engine. Just a few of his many pairs of big boy underwear...we went through a lot of underwear during those three days! Phew! Loving on his sister in between going to the potty. Has to be naked on the potty...this will be a great picture to show at his wedding rehearsal dinner! :) On the computer skyping with Nana and Grandaddy. Landon was getting praise by his grandparents for going pee pee on the potty! And, he wanted Elle to sit on his lap, so he kept pulling at her legs... she didn't like that very much haha.
Elle likes to hang out with Beyah....my 2 baby girls!!
Mohawk!! This is how my parents did my hair when I was her age...it's fun to do it to her now! :)
